Creative Management.
I have the experience and skills to lead creative projects and get the work done.
From creative direction and project management to production workflows and asset organization, I provide results on time, on message, and on brand.
My background.

I’ve provided team leadership, creative direction, and project management for marketing teams and campaigns throughout my extensive years of experience. I’ve collaborated with colleagues, leadership, and stakeholders to develop effective design strategies and solutions, and I’ve delivered robust production support for many campaigns and projects. I’ve provided onboarding and mentorship for junior designers, instructing them on workflow standards, branding guidelines, and creative direction.
I’ve worked directly with executives and stakeholders to review and revise designs for high-level marketing campaigns and new product launches. I’ve worked closely with analytical and creative teams to run A/B testing and review performance metrics to identify successful visual trends to incorporate into upcoming campaigns.
“Jim was the go-to person for assistance, always ready to lend a hand. His support and guidance, delivered with both patience and expertise, were invaluable. His friendly and encouraging demeanor fostered a positive work environment, making others feel valued and supported. It’s no surprise we relied on him to mentor others.“

Director, Creative Operations
Age of Learning, Inc.
Creative Direction and Management.

While serving as Senior Designer at Age of Learning, I was directly responsible for reviewing and critiquing the creative output of a team of junior designers within an enterprise-level marketing department. I also helped guide the creative brainstorming sessions for a wide variety of marketing campaigns.
I’ve provided new hire onboarding, mentorship, and art direction for creative teams, instructing them on workflow standards and brand guidelines. I have been responsible for reviewing the work of other designers, providing constructive critique and feedback and creative direction.
As an independent creative running my own freelance design business, I have been the creative director and project manager for most of the campaigns we worked on. For many years, I managed a wide variety of projects, often several at a time, in order to maintain a thriving business.

Branding Management
After many years working in marketing, I understand the value of branding.
As a senior designer at Age of Learning, I had to make sure all branding guidelines were being followed, and also consider the brand impact of each individual project and asset. I reviewed all creative output and updated my design team about branding guidelines on the regular, providing thoughtful and practical feedback to ensure brand integrity and consistency.
Project Management

I’ve always excelled at managing projects, ever since the beginning of my career.
As a senior designer at Age of Learning, I provided guidance on best practices and production workflows, and I reviewed timelines with project managers to identify potential issues in workflows and schedules. I kept my own projects on schedule and often helped junior designers keep theirs on track as well, lending a hand with anything from creative direction to production tips and assistance.
I worked closely with project managers to optimize our department’s production workflows for all the different kinds of marketing projects we handled, from website launches and updates to digital ad campaigns and print projects.
I also spent nearly a decade running my own freelance design studio, where I served as the project manager for most of our projects over the years.

Production Workflows
These are the protocols for creating and delivering production-ready assets on time, on message, and on brand.
It’s all about how the creative team manages and delivers everything from design mockups to final assets, for a wide variety of campaigns and platforms. For websites, this is how we set up the master documents and how we use branches in Figma to manage page versions.
It’s also about establishing standard operating procedures for where and how to store project assets, from original design documents to finalized deliverables. For content production, it’s the collection of protocols we rely on to effectively produce quality work on schedule, on message, and on brand.
Creative Asset Management

I developed and managed most of the creative resources and assets for an enterprise-level marketing department for nearly a decade as a senior designer at Age of Learning.
I produced and maintained marketing asset libraries on Xinet and in Figma, as well as style guides that served as both design systems and visual guidelines for the whole department. I built and maintained a creative resource library for our team in the Confluence system, referencing important information regarding workflows and production-related resources.
During my long tenure at Age of Learning, I managed the enterprise Figma portal for the whole marketing department. I created, managed, and maintained complete sets of master mockups in Figma for all the enterprise-level websites at Age of Learning.
